Rob Rickey
Environmental Designer
My journey began in Louisiana, where I studied architecture and received a B Arch (now M Arch) from Tulane University. Immediately after finishing university, I travelled to Iran where I worked for a well-known Iranian architecture practice for one and a half years. I returned to the U.S. newly married to work for an internationally recognised practice, CRS. Following a number of years practicing in New Hampshire, we moved to England in 1990. In 2005 I began work on an MSc in Environmental Design of Buildings at Cardiff University by distance learning, while working full-time for LHC Architecture. This study propelled me on a new path towards environmentally sensitive and low-energy design. More recently I qualified as a Certified Passive House Designer. Along the way, due to my interest in music, I have acquired skills in acoustic design. Since 2010 I have been a tutor in design at Plymouth University School of Architecture, which is always stimulating and keeps me open to new ideas.
