Ecological Consultant
I am a consultant ecologist with over 20 years’ experience carrying out ecological and protected species surveys for the public sector and commercial development projects. I am a chartered Environmentalist and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. I currently provide Ecological support to the Environment Team at Kier Highways Ltd. and run an independent ecological consultancy, O'Neill Ecology. Additionally I run a podule in Bat Ecology and Survey Techniques at Plymouth University. I have extensive experience of providing environmental advice and guidance on road schemes and on development sites (housing development and flood defence schemes). This work has involved the development and implementation of practical mitigation measures and close collaboration with interested stakeholders in the private and public sector. I also have a background in research and have been involved in research projects on mammals and amphibians in both England and Northern Ireland, including; smooth newts, bats, Irish hares and red squirrels.
