We are delighted to announce that feedback from The Design Review Panel has carried significant weight and been instrumental in the granting of planning permission under National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) paragraph 79e for a unique new build dwelling in Worth, Kent. Permission was granted by Dover District Council on the 21st June 2019 (18/01288).

The projects planning consultant Rob Hughes (MTCP MRTPI, Director at Hughes Planning) has said:-

"We are delighted to have secured permission for our 14th Para 79 house approval in June 2019. At the request of Dover District Council, we approached The Design Review Panel to undertake an independent review of our scheme and in the light of the positive comments that were received, this provided the necessary confidence and assurance to the Local Planning Authority that the proposals met the 'high bar' set by Para 79(e) of the National Planning Policy Framework. We would like to thank the Panel for their invaluable role in assisting the design team in achieving approval for a fabulous scheme."

"The involvement & endorsement from The Design Review Panel was sufficient to give the council the confidence that the proposals were of the quality to jump over the high bar set by the policy." - Richard Hawkes - Chartered Architect & Director of Hawkes Architecture

In reviewing the proposals the Panel considered that the architectural strategies were presented within the reviewed documentation with a laudable simplicity and clarity.

Furthermore it was considered that there was much to commend the proposals. It is felt to be refreshing to see a NPPF paragraph 79 (e) proposal that is relatively modest in scale, yet that has the potential to deliver a building of a strong identity and presence achieved through the quality of architectural expression, rather than size. The building’s form successfully presents a bold and unfamiliar geometry, whilst retaining continuity with the local vernacular.
