Pegasus Life secured planning permission through public inquiry for a Sarah Wigglesworth Architects scheme for a C2 assisted living community at The Knowle, Sidmouth, Devon. The Design Review Panel (www.designreviewpanel.co.uk) were instructed by East Devon District Council (EDDC) to provide multidisciplinary, expert, independent and impartial guidance and feedback to the local authority, applicant and design team during the pre-application design stage.

David Plant

Chartered Architect

David is a highly experienced and accomplished ARB/RIBA Chartered Architect with over 25 years of expertise in planning and construction delivery. His specialisation lies in mixed-use developments and residential projects. His skills were acknowledged by Essex County Council when they invited him to join the Essex Quality Review Panel, where he advises on major applications across Essex.

Starting his career in prestigious architecture firms in the South East of the UK, David later founded and grew two successful architectural practices. In 2011, he took on the challenge of establishing Scene Architects, which has since grown from a team of 3 to 40 professionals across offices in London and Essex. This remarkable success can be attributed to his industry knowledge, leadership, and unwavering drive.

David is known for his strong belief in open collaborative design and fostering a team ethos, evident in the structure and culture of his practice. His expertise lies in early-stage client and planning authority engagement, exploring innovative design approaches, and prioritising design quality.

Under his guidance, Scene Architects has diversified into education, commercial, sheltered accommodation, and care home projects, offering expertise across various sectors while maintaining a dynamic ethos of designing distinct and high-quality buildings that inspire and serve future communities.
David's professional approach and outstanding presentation skills have enabled him to build and sustain strong industry relationships. He collaborates successfully with reliable contractors, engages key stakeholders, and consults the public. He regularly works with medium to large developers like Countryside Partnerships and Bellway Homes, overseeing housing developments of up to 3,000 units, as well as luxury one off residential projects.
