Jody Slater
Chartered Town Planner & Urban Designer
Jody is a chartered town planner and urban designer with twenty years of experience, working for both public and private sector clients in the UK and internationally. Jody has spent over a decade as an independent consultant/contractor, actively engaging in both the planning and urban design fields.
Jody's experience spans a broad range, including national scale spatial policy, sub-regional plans, writing supplementary planning documents, and creating masterplans for public and private landowners to support specific policy delivery. Jody has also supported Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) as a consultant design officer, handling complex major applications and successfully representing clients at appeal as an expert witness in Planning and Design. Specializing in marine and waterfront development, Jody has worked on marine spatial policy, masterplanning, and feasibility studies both in the UK and overseas, with a particular interest in active travel and transport planning.
As a proponent of a joined-up approach, Jody advocates for open and productive dialogue among LPAs, technical teams, landowners, and communities, whether in preparing strategic policy, masterplanning, or developing detailed designs. Jody's practical experience in both development management and private sector project development is rooted in a strong understanding of practical outcomes and deliverability. Jody believes that their urban design work often enhances their strategic planning efforts, enabling them to proactively support projects with design solutions. This approach ensures that Jody delivers pragmatic and workable solutions.
