Matt Cowley
Ecologist
Matt is an ecologist with 18 years professional and academic experience. A Director of EAD since 2004, Matt has managed and directed ecological inputs to numerous development projects, including major housing, commercial and mineral extraction projects. Matt has presented ecological evidence at Public Inquiries, including major residential and infrastructure schemes and has prepared ecological witness statements for statutory review. His experience includes providing advice on national planning matters to the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts including advice to inform their responses to government on the Severn Barrage Proposals, National Planning Policy Statements and the Red Tape Challenge. Matt’s publications include a ‘best practice’ guide on ecological management and assessment published by the Institute of Environmental Assessment and first author scientific papers in peer reviewed journals including ‘Proceedings of the Royal Society’, ‘Journal of Applied Ecology’ and ‘Journal of Animal Ecology’.
