Ross French

Chartered Environmentalist

Ross brings a balanced approach to projects: a natural strategic thinker who understands that a keen eye for detail is critical to good ideas being realised. He believes that a clearly defined brief, developed in collaboration with the client, is key to ensuring that the design and procurement process runs smoothly. Since 1997, Ross has worked in both contracting and consultancy, holding leadership positions at three international practices. His qualifications and experience span architecture, urban design and engineering, and he has a strong understanding of the planning process and construction procurement.

Working throughout the UK, and in Ireland and France, his project work has spanned a range of sectors, including mixed use, residential, hospitality, office, education, culture and justice.

With a cross-disciplinary background, he has been well-equipped to adapt to the intensifying volume and complexity of environmental legislation in the industry. He has worked on a number of innovative buildings, including the first office building subject to the ‘Merton rule’, which stipulated the provision of onsite renewable energy technologies.

Ross is keen to learn from other countries, and considers his career highlights to include visits to Germany and Sweden to see examples of PassivHaus construction. In 2009, he was awarded the CIBSE Travel Bursary to evaluate traditional approaches to water management in the Levant and their applicability to contemporary development.
