Bath & North East Somerset Council (BANES) recognises the value of the Design Review Panel process.

Updated: Sep 6, 2021

We are delighted to announce that Bath and North East Somerset Council (BANES) now endorse the referral of appropriate schemes to local and national design panels. The BANES website now includes a specific 'Design Review' webpage.

The BANES webpage states:

"Bath and North East Somerset Council expects all new development to be of the highest quality and we are committed to raising the standard of design. We therefore positively support the use of design review in the assessment of the design quality of development proposals ..."

The Devon & Somerset Design Review Panel (aka The Design Review Panel) recommends using our, independent and impartial design review services, during the early stages of the design process to gain the most benefit. We believe that the design review process should be used as a constructive part of the design stage of a project, not the decision making stage.

The Design Review process is also supported by The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which states:

"Local planning authorities should have local design review arrangements in place to provide assessment and support to ensure high standards of design ... In assessing applications, local planning authorities should have regard to the recommendations from the design review panel."

To book a design review panel session for a project located anywhere in the south west of England, including a Bath Design Review Panel session please visit our website www.designreviewpanel.co.uk or contact Jonathan Braddick by email: jb@designreviewpanel.co.uk or by telephone on: 01395 265768
